NYC Reads and NYC Solves: Strengthening Literacy and Math Skills in New York City School

As part of the NYC Reads initiative, New York City Public Schools have adopted the Wit & Wisdom curriculum to enhance English Language Arts (ELA) instruction. Developed by Great Minds, Wit & Wisdom is a comprehensive K–8 curriculum designed to build students' knowledge and skills as readers, writers, and communicators.

NYC Solves is an initiative launched in 2024–2025 to improve math education across New York City. It aims to ensure all students develop critical math skills for academic and career success. The Illustrative Mathematics curriculum is being implemented in middle and high schools, focusing on problem-based learning and deep understanding of math concepts. NYC Solves is committed to addressing math achievement gaps and providing consistent, high-quality instruction for all students.

Chelsea Prep offers a comprehensive K-5 English Language Arts curriculum designed to help students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become successful readers, exceptional writers, and effective communicators. We utilize a variety of educational resources to provide a holistic and challenging academic program, including:

Wit & Wisdom (English Language Arts): Empowers students by building the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for success in reading, writing, and communication. Throughout the school year, students will explore four engaging modules, delving into a variety of literacy, informational, and fine arts genres. These modules are carefully crafted to create layers of knowledge, helping students build upon their learning as they progress. Below are the topics covered for each grade:
